Editing, Leadership and Team Building

As I discovered my passion for podcasting throughout the 2021-2022 school year, I also had an abundance of experience with editing. I not only learned the skills necessary for my podcast, but I was able to put those skills to work when I help one of my peers edit for their podcaster. My podcasting abilities have progressed over the past year, and have become one of my strongest journalistic skill sets.

Premiere Pro

I used Premiere Pro for all of my podcast editings, and in my opinion, it is the only efficient way to edit a podcast. As seen in this first screenshot, this is the template of an editing project on Premiere Pro, where no audio has been placed on the timeline yet. On the very far left, audio recordings can be seen, to begin editing all you would need to do is drag those audio recordings to the timeline to create your editing track!

In this screenshot, you can see how there is audio in the timeline, and the track is split up. This is what an edited track will look like, almost like little sticks, as there will always be unnecessary or bad audio that needs to be removed. A good edited podcast should look like this in your Premiere Pro, and you should add audio effects like fade-ins and outs, I personally like the exponential cross fade out the best:)

My Podcast Editing Presentation

I created a presentation for my journalism class and for my peers on how to create a good podcast. Being organized and the preparation is just as important as how you edit your podcast because you can have the most interesting topic but if it is poorly edited, your amazing topic will no longer matter. Although my presentation was longer than the few screenshots below, go ahead and check out the full presentation if you want to learn more about podcasting!
